Put Me Out

 

So here we are in another post on the series of “Songs to Help You Get Over a Heartbreak” or the Heartbreak series. At this point we have gone past sadness, regret, love stinks, to being furious at the person who dumped you. This brings us to:

14) Put Me Out by The Used

Now I’ve always been a fan of The Used, but I got this song off the Vans Warped Tour 2013 Compilation album as well. If I haven’t convinced you already, you really need to check this CD out. It’s fantastic.

So the album that it is originally from  is about vulnerability and renewal. Lead singer, Bert McCracken, said:

“This record’s really about becoming more than just who you are, and allowing yourself that vulnerability to be a more powerful person. It’s a lot more positive than a lot of records we’ve written in the past. I think everyone could use some positivity nowadays.”

I like how the expression in the song is anger on how the person just threw them away after everything they did, like Paramore’s For a Pessimist, I’m Pretty Optimistic; but at the same time it is about moving on and being okay. Plus my ex was a smoker so that made an even stronger connection to the song.

Gone Forever

So here is another post in the Heartbreak series. This one is:

13) Gone Forever by Three Days Grace

So I had heard some of Three Days Grace before I dated my ex. I remember their song Pain, when I was growing up but didn’t really get into the music until my ex lent me this CD and I listened to it, and of course loved it. Plus I love the lead singer and guitarist Adam Gontier. You know me and my weakness for tall, dark, handsome, long-haired guitarists.

Anyways the song covers what you think it would from the title. The song is about a guy who has ended a relationship, and while he is originally sad, he knows that it is better as that person is out of his life and gone forever.

I love this song coming after Missing You, as in Missing You the guy is sad and says that he isn’t missing her and happy that it ended, but at the same time it has a hint that he isn’t completely over the woman who broke his heart. In Gone Forever, the guy is stating that I’m much happier now that, that particular person is out of his life. However, when reading and hearing you can tell that he isn’t completely over the person. He is doing better, but still angry at his ex and hasn’t reached complete acceptance.

Take a Chill Pill John Knightley

Emma (2009)

After having read the novel Emma by Jane Austen, and having seen every film of it that I could get my hands on, I have concluded that Emma and I have a lot of similarities. We are not exactly alike but there are many things that are similar:

1. John hates Emma

• Dave hates Me

In the novel Emma’s older sister, Isabella is married to John, Mr. Knightly’s younger brother (I know some people think that is weird but Jane wrote it not me.) Anyways John cannot stand Emma, and Emma cannot stand him.  John is so annoying, he is always having freakout sessions and is such a wet blanket. He has a short temper and always going on and on about things, a real Debbie Downer. John also has such “strong” opinions. Meaning that he won’t listen to what anyone else thinks but has to constantly go on what he feels is right.

Anyways how this relates is that this guy my sister dated, Dave, hated me. And the feeling was mutual. I tried to like and be nice to him, but it was so hard because he is such a controlling guy and not very responsive. I would try to talk to him and get to know him, but he just cut me off or would ignore me.

At first I thought I was imagining he disliked me. I’ll admit I had a few Lizzy Bennet like jealous feelings, I missed hanging out with my sister as she had all her time filled up with being with Dave. I also felt that he was always talking down to me; treating me as a child. (Even though I was older than him.) He tended to act like a know-it-all and so much more superior to me but, I tried to see it his way and thought maybe he was nervous that he was so young and trying to compensate for it by acting older.

Usually I try to avoid Dave so that we do not have any such confrontations. However, I couldn’t get out of it last Saturday, and like John, Dave was a real wet blanket. In every conversation, he had to interrupt me and debase any opinion I had. I made my exit as quick as possible as I couldn’t stay much longer without slicing off his head.

Is this too crazy?

Anyways I was telling my mother what I was feeling about Dave. She thought I might be imagining it. But just like how Emma is reaffirmed by John’s action’s I found out from my sister that, Dave, did indeed dislike me (to the extreme). So “no doubting [it I].. have powers of penertration.” (Loosely quoted from Emma).

So for now all I have to say is John take a chill pill and share it with Dave.

*Currently the two are no longer together which is great for me and her. Dave was a loser and she deserves better.

Missing You

So the next song in my getting over a heartbreak list is one of my favorite songs ever.

12) Missing You by John Waite

I just love this song so much:

Not only does it have great music and lyrics, but I feel like he just captures the emotions so well.

The song is about a breakup and how he is missing his ex but then gets over them and stops mising them. Other people may not believe him, but he’s getting over that person. My favorite part is at the end when he loudly sings out, I ain’t missing you, I ain’t missing you at all!

This song works well next, because now we are reaching the point when you are starting to get over the other person, but can be brought back again into thinking of them, but are consciously making the decision to not have them on your mind.

The  song is written by  John Waite and when it was released in 1984 it was  #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song has been covered by numerous artists, but Waite is the best (at least in my opinion).

The music video is also really cool. As it is told in a series of flashbacks as Waite is thinking of his past relationship, along with the present as he is trying to figure out what and where to go next. This song is super popular and has been in a ton of things: Warm Bodies, 22 Jump Street, One Tree Hill, Life As We Know It, Everybody Hates Chris, Selena, Miami Vice, etc.

Pizza Power

I love Pizza!

 

I mean how can you not, it is just an amazing creation. One of the best inventions ever!

Every time is great for pizza, although I do have to admit that I think I order it more than I should.

I mean, when I eat it I think about how it is not the best thing in the world to be eating.
