So I took this quiz about what Boy Meets World character I am, and got Topanga

I thought I would get Cory, as I see myself being goofy like him, but we do share some of the same qualities. People don’t always understand me, but I’m unique and interesting.

Plus, Topanga is AWESOME!!!! Who wouldn’t want to be her?

Be Good to Yourself

Here we are, another song on the “Getting Over a Heartbreak” series:

27) Be Good to Yourself by Journey

This song came out in 1986, and quickly climbed the charts as number 10 on Billboard’s Hot 100. 

Be Good to Yourself was a mantra that lead singer Steve Perry would say over and over. Jonathan Cain, the keyboardist, wrote it down and it later was turned into a song. At the time period, Perry was dealing with home issues and a dying mother. It took them five months to write the complete thing.

The song was written by Perry, Cain, and Neal Schon. This actually saw the leaving of bassiest, Ross Valory and drummer, Steve Smith; replaced by Larrie Londin and Randy Jackson.

I included it in this songlist, as after a breakup, it is always important to remember to be good to yourself. Not only as in taking care of yourself as in making sure that you don’t go off the deep end in letting yourself go. You should also make sure that you are going out, living your life, etc.

Whip It

Music is awesome and helps you overpower anything. One such song being:

Whip It was created by Devo in the ’80s. The lyrics were inspired by the book Gravity’s Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon. The whole purpose of the song was to overcome adversity by “whipping” or defeating any problem you may face. Devo wears their trademark black, sleeveless turtlenecks, and their red Energy Dome headgear. 

This song has been covered by tons of people; everyone from Alvin and the Chipmunks, to Moby, to Korn.

This song comes off the album The Bird and the Bee Sides, the same CD that Up and Up came from. The title of the song comes from the idiom “that every cloud has a silver lining”. Which means that you can always find good in bad.

Now the song takes it in a new direction. It does cover that in bad you can find good, but also that the silver lining is in you. You are the good in the bad situation, it resides in who you are. You are golden, you are awesome.
