So I have been planning my Jane Austen 29th birthday party for a few years, and I’m not letting the Coronavirus get in the way. I had always planed a garden party (social distancing check), trying to keep it small (small groups check), and our county is moving a tier down. But even if everything gets on lockdown again and it turns out to be just me, I’m having it!
So far I have the tea cups for favors and made and sent out the invitations.
So I am planning to do three games. I want one to be everyone is given a Jane Austen character and have to guess who, a look at a tea tray or tea/Jane Austen items and they have to try and remember as many as they can, and a Jane Austen Trivia game.
So if we have games then we need prizes! I plan for each prize to have a Jane Austen book for each and some other goodies. One I defintely decided on was to be Pride and Prejudice of course, and another to be Northanger Abbey. For the third I hemmed and hawed and finally decided on Persuasion.
It is such a great book that has gotten more interest lately, and I would love someone who has never read it to enjoy it.
So I traded on paperbackswap for a hardcover copy and then settled on what to do next. I had an extra tea infuser, as I bought a set of two and gave one to a friend, and a lot of nautical charms, so I decided to add an anchor and voila!
Then when I was out with my niece at an antique shop she wanted to purchase a thimble to use as a cup for her Barbie dolls. I looked with her and found this beautiful one with the HMS Cutty Sark on it.
In total this came out to this at $6.08: the book $0.49 to “swap”, the tea infuser $2.50, the anchor charm $0.09, and the thimble $3.
So what do you all think. Is that enough or should I add something else to it?
I can’t wait to share some of my other plans with you all.
