Which One of These is Lipstick?

Makeup…why is it so hard.

I am completely inadequate, I mean most of the time I feel like Sandra Bullock in Miss Congeniality.

I mean I know foundation, eyeshadow, lipstick, eyeliner, mascara; but once they get into priming, contouring, etc-you lose me.

Help me! I’m confused!

In fact my sister bought me a full set of like 20 brushes, and I am completely confused as to what to use them a for. I mean four are easily identifiable, but the rest? What do you need them for?

Huh?

Or I went to buy lipgloss from the store, and when I got there, there was over fifty shades. How am I supposed to know which one to choose? Which is my color?

In fact I am going to have to get help from a friend to figure it out. but I guess that is life-this is how it will always be:

A Real Non-Party Animal

Who likes big parties?

Not me.

I hate large parties. I always feel uncomfortable as I am not good with small talk.

Especially if it is mostly people I don’t know:

Or people I don’t know well.

I’m an introvert so the whole big party thing, I find completely overwhelming. Usually I do one of two things: Hang out at the snack table/buffet:

Or unsure

It is one of the best places to be as you don’t have to talk (food in mouth) and you don’t feel awkward as you have something to do. But sadly, you can’t spend the whole party eating.

So the other place I wind up with is children.

They are just easier for me to connect with and feel more comfortable. But even that doesn’t always work out, as what about parties that don’t have any kids?

In those situations, I usually find myself sitting alone and wishing I had a book to read.

Small parties made up of a bigger ratio of people I know, I am great with. I can turn my introverted nature into be an extrovert and have a good time.

But any other situation, and I am ready to go as soon as I can.

I’m out!

I guess I’m just a real no-party animal, and that’s okay with me.

GISHWHESing Away

So GISHWHES is over.

It was hard this time. First of all, the friend I always do it with was out of the country.

So I had to try and find others to pinch in with me. That meant I wasn’t able to do as much as I would have liked.

I also got sick

And my phone broke: which made it so I couldn’t do the things I needed to, I couldn’t contact anyone, and I had to redo an item.

And then when I tried to upload a video, youtube wouldn’t process it.

Argh!

But now it is over.

I had a lot of fun with it. I put E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial in Jello. (Which was really hard, heavy, and took ALL DAY! 😦

Sorry E.T, you are going nowhere!

I painted seven rocks with encouraging words on them and left them in areas that are in need of hope. They looked really cool! My favorite, of course, was this one:

I turned a grocery cart into a spaceship and helped an “alien” collect specimens.

I also dressed up as a Ghostbuster and took care of a pesky ghost at my local library.

That’s how I roll

Made a child’s idea of happiness come true.

Broke a rule

Made my own Scavenger Hunt list

Created cars out of boxes and did human nascar. This was fun, I made a Herbie, the Love Bug:

The 1966 Batmobile (Adam West TV show):

The 1967 Impala from Supernatural:

The Ecto-1

Lighting McQueen

And much more! It was a lot of fun and I’m glad this one is done with, but sad the whole thing is over. Apparently this was the last GISHWHES  they are ever going to do.

Well, now things can settle down and go back to normal. Or at least I hope so.

Period Days are Reading Days

Ugh, I’m on my period:

No joke this enters my mind every month

And we women all know what that feels like:

Yep, that pretty much sums it up.

Being on your period is no fun at all, you don’t want to do anything.

Everything hurts, you hate everything, feel bad, etc. All you want to do is check out from life.

So the best thing to do is grab your blanket, ice cream:

Hot tea:

And a good book to read. After all:

Yep, there is no better way to ride out the storm of pain than with a good book

When You Don’t Want to Deal With Other’s Feelings

At least once in their life every body has had somebody like them who they don’t like back. I know I have had quite a few.

Usually the first thing I do is just play dumb to it.

Or I try to ignore it:

And of course try to make sure you aren’t alone together:

But then inevitable will happen. The feelings will be said and you will have to try and deal with them, whether you want to or not.

One time I had a guy tell me he liked me, and I told him…you know what:

And then the conversation went like this:

“Him: Did you hear what I said?

Me: Yes.

Him: We need to talk about this!

Me: Well we could be talking about pepperoni and sausage, but find then.”

Sometimes guys take the rejection/let’s just be friends well:

And other times they don’t:

But hey, that’s life.

Hot Humid Days are Reading Days

I don’t know about you all, but it is HOT here.

It has been in the 100s, so not pleasant at all. This being the first day of summer means it will only get worse.

In fact I don’t want to do anything, and I most certainly do not want to do anything outside.

I mean it feels like you are stepping out into an oven. Immediately sweat pours out of every pore.

So what is a girl to do?

Iced Tea

Yep, it is the perfect weather to sit indoors enjoying your air conditioning, iced tea, and a good book.

T-I-E-R-D…Tired

I haven’t been posting lately because I’ve just been so busy this week. At work we have summer reading signups, lots more children coming into my programs, my other jobs needing my time, trying to fit in my friends, my niece is visiting, etc.- it seems as if every day there is less time to do everything.

An obstacle course to try and get everything done.

And I just feel so dang tired. I just want to sleep all the time.

But things should settle down to normal soon. As for now…I’m going to take a nap.

Something’s Scratching at the Window

The other day I woke up at four in the morning, having fallen asleep while watching TV, with an upset stomach. It turned out to be pre-period cramps.

Yep, that pretty much sums it up.

As I knew it was going to be impossible to go back to sleep right away, I decided to go to the bathroom and brush my teeth, wash my face, maybe do a mask or scrub, etc.-until the pain passed. While I was in the bathroom I heard a noise that went like this:

Scritch, scritch, scritch, scrith…

It sounded as if something was clawing under the window.

So the window in the bathroom is really old. It is a slat window that has to be opened with a lever, and because of its age it never shuts completely. And the acoustics are really good there as people who are across the yard sound as if they are right next to you.

Ugh.

So at first I wasn’t freaked out. I figured it must be a raccoon or possum or something just digging around in the yard or on a trash can.

Meh.

But then I heard it again and it was louder…and it wouldn’t stop…and it sounded like it was right next to me.

Ahhh!

For a split second my mind went to there is a monster out there:

In fact it made me think of that old “scary” story that everyone told at slumber parties; where the two people are stranded in a car and the boyfriend leaves to go for help. While he is gone the girlfriend continuously hears a scratch, scratch, scratch (or tap, tap, tap) while the boyfriend is gone. In the end, a psycho has been scratching at her car or the boyfriend has been killed and his body is hanging overhead.

I’m sure you’ve heard one of the versions of it.

So yes, I went there but then I bounced back. I was certain it was no big deal and going to scare off whatever animal was making that noise.

The gun is a metaphor. I wasn’t going to shoot any animals.

I was just about to walk out of the bathroom and go check outside when something jumped into the window!!!!!!!!!!

And then I saw clawed fingers poking into the cracks of the window!!!!!!!

And I have to admit:

But then this thing started to meow angrily.

And my brain realized that the clawed fingers were just the clawed paws of my cat. Lack of sleep, cramps, it being early morning, whatever-had made me not realize that the hands I saw were tiny cat paws not monster hands.

Yes, since I had fallen asleep watching TV, I didn’t bring my cat in and I guess she heard me in the bathroom, or saw the light-but somehow figured out I was in there and was trying to get my attention to let her in.

But hey, I will take being trolled by my cat over a real psychopath (or rodent) scratching under my window any day.

I Have Been Remiss, My Deepest Apologies to The Darcy Monologues

So as you know I have just reviewed Part I of The Darcy Monologues.

I decided to look over the review that I posted and I was shocked:

I had failed to share how much I enjoyed this first part of the novel.

I mean when I first heard of this collection, I thought it sounded interesting:

It is a good idea.

Then I started reading it, only planning on looking at a few stories, but finding it hard to stop!

So I don’t know why I was so reserved in my review. I want to apologize to all you authors and editors for being so stingy in my praise .

I thought over why I reacted in such a way and have come up with four explanations:

1) I’ve been rereading Emma lately. Maybe subconsciously I took a card from Mr. Knightley’s deck.

2) This weekend was not only Mother’s Day, but a family member’s birthday; along with being a weekend that my niece stayed over. In my rush to get it posted in time, I could have just put up my notes leaving the “heart” out of it.

3) I’m highly allergic to scents and at work someone had sprayed something that gave me a bad allergic reaction, causing me to feel bad the rest of the day. I could have just been out of it.

4) Whatever air freshener they were spraying caused a chemical reaction that changed me from Moreland to Miss Snide.

Beware of the Snide!

Out of all of them I think the fault lies anywhere from 2-4, especially four. Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking caused it.

But joking aside, you know that I always am honest on this blog. Maybe I fudge names of friends and family or where I live, to protect my anonymity, but when I post a review I post how I really feel. And I feel that this first part, as I haven’t posted on the second just yet, is amazing.

Fantastic!

I’m serious! Yes they might make alterations to the story, and maybe they chose paths I wouldn’t have gone down. But none of that takes away from the amazing work that these authors did. I enjoyed every one of them as each presented the Darcy we all love in a different view. You guys did a wonderful job.

This first part is something EVERY Jane Austen fan, Pride and Prejudice fan, or Darcy fan should read. You NEED to check this out.

In fact, I am going back to update my post to make sure it reflects the enjoyment I felt in reading it.

But will I love the second half, Elizabeth and Darcy traveling throughout time?

It is hard enough to take a story and bring something new to it in the time period, let alone trying to keep the story while transporting it to other times. You have to know your history, try to navigate the issues of the day, keep old constraints relevant in a different world, decide how much to keep of the original tale, etc.

You’ll just have to keep reading to find out!

And don’t forget to check this book out for yourself!

Road Rage

So we all have things that bother us when we are driving. I hate when people don’t respect those who are walking or biking.

When people don’t stop at stop signs,

I mean come on, its there for a reason. Or when you are going the speed limit and this person speeding keeps trying to pass you because they think you are “too slow”.

Yes, that’s just a few. But one thing of the BIGGEST THINGS I can’t stand is when you have someone make a right turn on red and cut in front of you when you have the green light.

You are ONLY supposed to go when it is CLEAR! Not because you want to go.  WAIT YOUR TURN!!!!

So the other day I was driving to visit my friend, and someone pulled this on my. I had the green light and was driving across, when they pull fast and cut in front of me, making me hit the brake.

Like I totally wanted to annihilate them.

But I just had to calm down and let it go.

Although I did honk my displeasure.

Ugh.

 And continued on my way.

But…it turns out we were going the same way as we continued straight across the freeway.

Hmm…

And then taking the same turn.

Now I was just going to my friend’s house for lunch, and I had no clue where the other driver was going; but we continued with me following them.

Hmm…

In fact our ways were in such a resemblance that I freaked the driver out and they pulled over to let me pass. I guess they thought I was a real psycho and was going to try and attack them.

I found the whole thing to be hilarious.

So even though I did not get exact revenge, I still got some payback.
