I hate when people tell me that I should be doing such and such because I’m young. I want to do what I want to do, not what people think someone may age should be doing. If I want to stay home on a Friday night with my cats reading, then I will.
Hey, after all:
But seriously, why should I do something because it is expected solely on my age? Well I’m not.
It’s my life. I’m going to live it the way I want to. The rest of the world can just deal with it.
Well here I go, the second to last post on our “Getting Over a Heartbreak” list:
30) Here I Go by Relient K
So here we are, another Relient K song. I think if you look at the whole list you’ll see a majority of the songs are either Journey or Relient K. I can’t help it! That’s what I was digging after my break up.
So the reason why I put this second to last on my “Getting Over a Heartbreak” series, was that I thought It really expressed how one feels after you have been through everything and are 100% over that other person.
But over in the sense that you aren’t angry, you don’t care about that other person, you have completely moved on and are just focusing on what is coming next in your life. Enjoying being yourself and being alive. Here I Go!
Yeah!
Oh, believe me I have tried
to work this out from the inside
then I finally realized I need to move on with my life
Gotta make something happen
not just sit around and wait for it
this place is like a prison I think I’m going to have to make a break for it
whoa-o here I go it’s like I made it for the first time
whoa-o here I go and I think it’s the first time I felt alive
Yeah! Alive!
I’ve been so depressed I’ve been let down
been pushed aside been pushed around
there’s one thing that I need
something you can’t take from me
Gotta make something happen
not just sit around and wait for it
this place is like a prison I think I’m going to have to make a break for it
whoa-o here I go it’s like I made it for the first time
whoa-o here I go and I think it’s the first time I felt alive
whoa-o here I go it’s like I made it for the first time
whoa-o here I go and I think it’s the first time I felt alive
Move up, move on
you blink I’m gone
we only have one life to live
I’ll live it now
you have no doubt
I’ll prove you wrong
this is the only thing that I know
so here I go
[Chorus]
whoa-o here I go it’s like I made it for the first time
whoa-o here I go and I think it’s the first time I felt alive
whoa-o here I go it’s like I made it for the first time
whoa-o here I go I think it’s the first time I felt alive.
Forget the past
Live your life
After all:
Most important:
To start the “Getting Over a Heartbreak” series rom the beginning, go to If It Means A Lot to You
So I couldn’t find a quote that was all about being okay and having moved on. All the ones I could find this weekl were sad so I pulled one from a previous song, Gone Forever, by Three Days Grace. Yep, this is another song in the “Getting Over a Heartbreak List”:
19) Red Rubber Ball by The Cyrkle
I really like this song, although the opening chords always make me think of the theme song from Friends. It was written in 1966 and made #2 in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. It was written by Paul Simon and Bruce Woodley. Simon offered it to The Cyrkle and the rest is history.
It has been covered by numerous bands, such as; Simon and Garfunkel, Neil Diamond, Eggchair, The Diodes, Streetlight Manifesto, Cilla Black, Del Shannon, and Mel Torme. But I think The Cyrkles are the best.
So the song is about a guy who’s heart was broken. As he looks back at everything, he is doing great. He is moving on with his life, focusing on himself, and doing so much better without that person in his life. It’s like a combination of But It’s Alright and Move Along.
I should have known you’d bid me farewell There’s a lesson to be learned from this and I learned it very well Now, I know you’re not the only starfish in the sea If I never hear your name again, it’s all the same to me
And I think it’s gonna be alright Yeah, the worst is over now The mornin’ sun is shinin’ like a red rubber ball
You never care for secrets I confide For you, I’m just an ornament, somethin’ for your pride Always runnin’, never carin’, that’s the life you live Stolen minutes of your time were all you had to give
And I think it’s gonna be alright Yeah, the worst is over now The mornin’ sun is shinin’ like a red rubber ball
The story’s in the past with nothin’ to recall I’ve got my life to live and I don’t need you at all The roller-coaster ride we took is nearly at an end I bought my ticket with my tears, that’s all I’m gonna spend And I think it’s gonna be alright Yeah, the worst is over now The mornin’ sun is shinin’ like a red rubber ball
Oh, I think it’s gonna be alright Yeah, the worst is over now The mornin’ sun is shinin’ like a red rubber ball
After all:
To start the “Getting Over a Heartbreak Series” from the beginning, go to If It Means a Lot to You
So here is another installment in the series of “Songs to Help You Get Over Heartbreak”. So we have moved past the crying and weeping, past regretfulness and love stinks, and now are at realization that it is a part of life. It happened once, and will again.
With this realization, it doesn’t always mean that you are over it (everyone moves on at their own speed) but that you are closer to being completely over it. This next song is:
9) Chin Up Kid by Forever the Sickest Kids
So this is another band I got into after listening to the Vans Warped Tour 2013 CD. Now I listened to this song over and over and over and over and over again, when I was dealing with my breakup. I really like it because of the lyrics, how true they are; along with having being a really upbeat song that makes you feel good. Plus their music video is amazing!!! You are going to love it!!!
The band wrote the song for those specific reasons.
“It’s a feeling that anyone who’s been through heartbreak will recognize. ‘Chin Up Kid’ can be a very relatable song to most. We wrote this song about keeping your head up through heartbreak and trying times. Young love can come and go before you realize you even had it. We hope this song motivates the listener to find inner strength to keep moving on and pressing forward.”
So here are the amazing lyrics.
Everybody hurts every once in a while
And everybody loses sleep with a broken heart
Good things come and go but kid you’ll learn how to cope
When something feels right, be ready to let it go
I remember hurting her and her hurting me I remember losing sleep, she was haunting my dreams It’s alright, chin up kid, it’ll all be fine There’s not a wound in this world that won’t heal with time
You’re just a boy
She’s just a girl
You’ll break her heart
She’ll wreck your world
But life goes on, the ending’s the starting line
Chin up, press on, you will survive
Young love that lasts is hard to find
So chin up, press on, you will survive
Gotta learn to be OK with being alone
You gotta learn to love yourself before you love someone else
It’s hard to be patient
While she’s keeping you waiting
I remember loving her, her not loving me And I remember losing sleep, she was haunting my dreams And it’s alright, chin up kid, it’ll all be fine There’s not a wound in this world that won’t heal with time
You’re just a boy
She’s just a girl
You’ll break her heart
She’ll wreck your world
But life goes on, the ending’s the starting line
Chin up, press on, you will survive
Young love that lasts is hard to find
So chin up, press on, you will survive
And everything will be alright And everything will be just fine And everything will be alright Yeah!
You’re just a boy She’s just a girl You’ll break her heart She’ll wreck your world But life goes on, the ending’s the starting line Chin up, press on, you will survive Young love that lasts is hard to find So chin up, press on, you will survive
Life goes on, the ending’s the starting line Chin up, press on, you will survive Young love that lasts is hard to find So chin up, press on, you will survive
You will survive!
No matter how painful something is you will survive and get over it. It just takes time.
