I Won the Madsen Creations Giveaway

So a while back Madsen Creations was doing a giveaway-you know me and free, I just can’t resist.

As I always say:

“Free is always good unless it is diseases.”

Anytime I see a giveaway I have to enter it.

So I did and I won!

So I actually won two things. The first was a Barbie inspired Flower Wower Dress made from orange and white cotton fabric.

Now you know I love the 1970s:

Farrah’s hair, movies, music:

But I wasn’t quite sure about this shirt as I am not a big orange fan (it’s just not my color). However, I loved this as it was extremely comfortable, although a bit shorter than I would like. I wear it with trousers or leggings.

The second item I was super excited about. It was a Maroon Fleece CapletA short capelet with a matching floral printed ribbon.

So I don’t know how many of you have read this book, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, but I did and loved it! I was so excited to win this capelet as Juliet wears one in the book. The movie changes a lot of things, one of which is Juliet’s outfit. In the book she wears a red capelet when she goes to the island, so that the society members know who she is (kind of like a red rose on a blind date). In fact, she almost loses her nerve and flings it overboard, but decides to continue and of course has a wonderful time and adventure.

This past Christmas we had Santa Claus, Queen Elsa, and Princess Anna come into the library, and I of course wanted to wear something Christmas-y. I decided to wear the capelet and everyone loved it! They all thought it was supposed to be a play on Anna’s costume.

Since then I have worn this multiple times and everyone compliments me on it and I love it! It is beautiful, wonderfully constructed, warm, and a great accessory to any outfit. It has become one of my favorite things to wear.

You should defintely check her site out for what she has, and if there is something you’d like that she doesn’t have-she also makes custom items.

Plus, you can get 10% off anything you order by entering the promo JANEAUSTENRUNSMYLIFE, the last day to use it is 2/29/20. Don’t miss out.

A Fashion Statement

So I’ve talked about fashion before:

Fashion

And it’s true, whether we are so deeply invested that we know the designer’s names and collections, to whether we know what we like and that’s what we buy over and over again; everyone has some sort of interest in fashion.

modelblackmailfashion

And with that we have the things we like and dislike; our own little quirks. For instance I hate anything around my neck it bothers me to no end.

BonesMcCoyStarTrekTOSNeckSlingTurtleneck

My sister always makes fun of me for that, but it feels like I am choking.

Choke

I also hate huge clunky bracelets. I have very small wrists so I always have issues getting ones that fit right.

StartrekSpockuncomfortable

Yep, comfort tends to be my number one thing.

BeComfortable

Sometimes it is more fun to just chill out and relax than be in dressed up clothes. I think Cher said it best in Clueless:

Yep:

Although that doesn’t go for my shoes as I love them high.

Walking on Pins and Needles

So do you remember a post a while back when I compared myself to The Little Mermaid, not the film version, but the book.

the-little-mermaid-hans-christian-andersen

In the book, the Little Mermaid in her deal to walk on land, trades the comfort of walking along with her voice. Every step she takes feels as if she has knives stabbed into her feet. I had tried to get into shape by doing squats and overdid it, creating very sore thighs. (Read more about it in The Little Moreland)

ouch Hermione

Well it happened again.

Tom-Hanks-Saying-Really

But this time it wasn’t my fault.

Mmhm great gatsby

I mean it!

So every year in my community there is this big free event in which they give away backpacks, clothes, and all other things to kids and families in need.

free stuff

The woman in charge asked me if I would help out this year and do face painting. I like doing face painting and have for years, so I agreed.

funny_artist_art_smock_art_painting_apron-r3ff7dd4bc34e43dfa1d0dadfb63ae0a6_v9wtf_8byvr_512

That day I got there before the event started, and it was packed. I ran over to the table were we had everything set up, but there was one problem. They had only provided three chairs. I had brought an extra chair, but that wasn’t enough for us three volunteers and the people whose faces we would be  painting.

Spoke too soon

We managed to find one more chair, but that was still one too few. Me being nice as I am, went without.

big mistake

I thought that we might have breaks in between, but no. It was a never ending line of children and parents.

Under Capricorn Aah oh no ugh

I spent three hours squatting and painting non-stop. I was only saved the last hour as when other people went home, and they found a chair for me to use.

Finally something GOOD!

Finally!

When the event ended I was in so much pain. My thighs and feet hurt. Every step I took I could hear a popping noise or it was extremely sore.

ouch Hermione

The next day was extremely painful too. Every step was excruciating. But hey, at least it was for charity instead of vanity? Right?

Gotcha!

16) Five Weird Things You Like

Here we are with another top five countdown. Here we have five things I think are fine, but others have told me is strange or weird.

1)I Freakin’ Love Basil

woman-cooking

I love basil. I think it is the best smell in the world and would totally buy air freshener of it. I love how it tastes! I love cooking with it! I love it’s color! I love everything about it.

2) I Wear My Clothes in Rotation

modelblackmailfashion

I like to wear my clothes in rotation so that I:

  1. Don’t wear the same thing over and over again
  2. Duplicate the same outfit that week
  3. So everything has a turn.

When I wash my clothes or get new ones they all go in the back. I am only allowed to pick from the first 10 items in the front. This is for all the reasons stated above, but also so the things I’m not wearing get stuck in the front and I can give them away as I am obviously no longer interested in them.

It might be weird to you, but makes perfect sense to me.

3) I Sometimes Sleep on the Floor

WakeUpNoThankYou

So I sleep in strange positions. I lay down like a regular person, but then the next day I’ll be twisted around, facing the opposite direction, etc. Because of this, I can sometimes wake up sore, due to a twisted body. To put everything back in shape, I’ll sleep on the floor. Doing so causes me to sleep like a regular person.

4) I Have to Have My Books Organized by Height

NeverCanHaveTooManyBooks

Everything else can be absolutely messy, except for my books. It’s really a compulsion, how much I have to have them in order from tallest to shortest. It just looks so much nicer that way.

The only exception is, if they are in a series. In that case, size doesn’t matter as much as order.

5) I Like to Eat Out of the Container

Where-To-Find-Hong-Kong-One-Dollar-Chinese-Food

Plates and bowls are nice but I prefer just eating out of the box, tupperware, or container. It’s easier and you don’t get another dish dirty. Besides you eat until you are full, instead of constantly refilling.

Now I don’t usually do this if it’s something I’m sharing, (germs), but if it is something that belongs only to me, I don’t bother with a plate I just eat it.
