You Shook Me All Night Long from Back in Black by AC/DC
So this song is about sex.
I mean some is innuendo, but a majority of the song just puts it out there.
So why do I like this song? I mean Im not really into that sort of thing?
I know it surprises me too. I just love this song. It’s like when you don’t like certain ingredients at all, and then this one dish that combines them you will eat. Or when you like a person and they are nothing at all like your usual type. You don’t know why it works in this case, but it does.
In this case, I know why. It is the music, particularly the guitar.
When I hear that guitar it is like a chemical reaction, I am just so pumped. I like it even better than the lyrics. Not to mention the epic solo:
What can I say, AC/DC knows how to rock my musical world.
Yep it is time for another Avenged Sevenfold song.
Hail to the King by Avenged Sevenfold
This song came out three years ago and in a very interesting way. They had a big contest and relseased pieces along with trivia. I don’t remember a lot about it other than my ex was checking every week to do a new entry.
I really like this song for three reasons. The first is the music. I just love the guitar in this:
I also love the music video with the imagery of the crown, throne, the black and white…
Although I wouldn’t have gone with the Medieval knights.
This song makes me think of Vikings, especially that first image with the throne, and the raven in the tree (all Odin-like).
Watch your tongue or have it cut from your head
Save your life by keeping whispers unsaid
Children roam the streets now orphans of war
Bodies hanging in the streets to adore
Royal flames will carve the path in chaos
Bringing daylight to the night
Death is riding in the town with armor
Because thail take all your rights
Hail to the king, hail to the one
Kneel to the crown, stand in the sun
Hail to the king (hail, hail, hail, the king)
Blood is spilled while holding keys to the throne
Born again, but it’s too late to atone
No mercy from the edge of the blade
Thail’ll escape and learn the price to be paid
Let the water throw it’s shades of red now
Arrows black out all the light
Death is rotting in the town with armor
Thail’ve come to grant you your rights
Hail to the king, hail to the one
Kneel to the crown, stand in the sun
Hail to the king (hail, hail, hail, the king)
There’s a taste of fear (hail, hail, hail)
When the henchmen call (hail, hail, hail)
Iron fist to tame them (hail, hail, hail)
Iron fist to claim it all (hail, hail, hail)
Hail to the king, hail to the one
Kneel to the crown, stand in the sun
Hail to the king, hail to the one
Kneel to the crown, stand in the sun
Hail to the king (hail, hail, hail)
This is how I feel about Highway Star by Deep Purple.
My love for this song came around when Rock Band came out and it was all my friends were playing. When I saw Highway Star that was it, that was the only song I wanted to play/sing.
I just love this song for three main reasons:
The Lyrics are super easy to remember
You don’t have to sing it well, in fact it sounds better when sung badly
It has amazing guitar! This song is just so awesome, words cannot describe how I feel about the guitar solo.
Not to mention the epic organ!
Just make sure your musical genius doesn’t lead you to becoming a stalker or murderer
I mean to be honest this is me throughout the whole song.
This is my cruisin’ song. When I was practicing for my driver’s test (which I passed) I would sing this all the time.
The song was actually created on accident during a tour in 1971. A reporter interviewing the group asked how they wrote songs and guitarist Ritchie Blackmore grabbed his guitar and began playing a “G” riff over and over, while the vocalist Ian Gillan just made things up. The song was later retooled and performed that night. Deep Purple is so awesome.
So here are the lyrics, make sure when you listen you crank it up ands let it rip!
Nobody gonna take my car
I’m gonna race it to the ground
Nobody gonna beat my car
It’s gonna break the speed of sound
Oooh it’s a killing machine
It’s got everything
Like a driving power big fat tires
and everything
I love it and I need it I bleed it yeah it’s a wild hurricane Alright hold tight I’m a highway star
Nobody gonna take my girl I’m gonna keep her to the end Nobody gonna have my girl She stays close on every bend Oooh she’s a killing machine She’s got everything Like a moving mouth body control and everything
I love her I need her I seed her Yeah She turns me on Alright hold on tight I’m a highway star
Nobody gonna take my head I got speed inside my brain Nobody gonna steal my head Now that I’m on the road again Oooh I’m in heaven again I’ve got everything Like a moving ground an open road and everything
I love it and I need it I seed it Eight cylinders all mine Alright hold on tight I’m a highway star
Nobody gonna take my car I’m gonna race it to the ground Nobody gonna beat my car It’s gonna break the speed of sound Oooh it’s a killing machine It’s got everything Like a driving power big fat tyres and everything
I love it and I need it I bleed it Yeah it’s a wild hurricane Alright hold on tight I’m a highway star I’m a highway star I’m a highway star
I really wish they would put this song in Supernatural. I mean can’t you just see Dean singing it as he is in total love with his car? Right? Wouldn’t that be just perfect?
So those of you who don’t know, those are lyrics from the song.
So here we go again, another post on our “Getting Over a Heartbreak Series”.
22) Here I Go Again by Whitesnake
Now if I had to pick my favorite song, absolutely had to pick one it would be this one. I love this song so, so, so, so, so much.
This is the song that has gotten me through everything. Any horrible events, broken friendships, break ups, moving, and making any drastic changes. It always helps empower me and make me feel like I can get through anything.
The song came out in 1982, but then was re-recorded and released in 1987. The 1987 version is the one I love. It was number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 17 on VH1‘s 100 Greatest Songs of the ’80s.
I just feel that this song is absolutely amazing! I cannot stress that enough. I included it at this point in the breakup list as I feel it goes perfectly after the last song. Here you are going on with your life. Here you go on your own. You are making a vow to not wasting anymore time moping and crying. Here I go again. 🙂
I don’t know where I’m going
But, I sure know where I’ve been
Hanging on the promises
In songs of yesterday
An’ I’ve made up my mind,
I ain’t wasting no more time
But, here I go again
Here I go again
Tho’ I keep searching for an answer,
I never seem to find what I’m looking for
Oh Lord, I pray
You give me strength to carry on,
‘Cos I know what it means
To walk along the lonely street of dreams
An’ here I go again on my own
Goin’ down the only road I’ve ever known,
Like a drifter I was born to walk alone
An’ I’ve made up my mind
I ain’t wasting no more time
I’m just another heart in need of rescue,
Waiting on love’s sweet charity
An’ I’m gonna hold on
For the rest of my days,
‘Cos I know what it means
To walk along the lonely street of dreams
An’ here I go again on my own
Goin’ down the only road I’ve ever known,
Like a drifter I was born to walk alone
An’ I’ve made up my mind
I ain’t wasting no more time
But, here I go again,
Here I go again,
Here I go again,
Here I go…
An’ I’ve made up my mind,
I ain’t wasting no more time
An’ here I go again on my own
Goin’ down the only road I’ve ever known,
Like a drifter I was born to walk alone
‘Cos I know what it means
To walk along the lonely street of dreams
An’ here I go again on my own
Goin’ down the only road I’ve ever known,
Like a drifter I was born to walk alone
An’ I’ve made up my mind
I ain’t wasting no more time…
But, here I go again,
Here I go again,
Here I go again,
Here I go,
Here I go again…
And I have to say that I also absolutely love the version by Rock of Ages.
Remember:
Because:
Go on along the road:
And above all remember:
To start the “Getting Over a Heartbreak” series from the beginning, go to If It Means A Lot to You
Yep this is me. Every time there is a song I love, I sing EVERYTHING. This is especially true in
Yep, another My Chemical Romance post!
So this song is off their album Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, and like all MCR albums, follows a story rather than just being individual songs. It took over a year to create the album, and the band wrote over 36 songs, not of all they kept. This story is set in the year 2019, a post-apocalypticCalifornia. There are a few willing to stand up to the tyrants, these rebel forces called Killjoys, of which MCR is a part of. The music videos and songs reference a lot of films, such as Blade Runner, Terminator 2: Judgement Day, Mad Max, The Karate Kid, Dredd/Judge Dredd etc.
Each band member has an alter-ego Gerard Way being Party Poison”, Ray Toro is Jet Star, Frank Iero is Fun Ghoul, and Mikey Way is Kobra Kid. All of which look really hot in their rebel wear/masks. There is just something to be said for vigilantes who wear masks. 🙂
The guide for the Killjoys is a pirate radio DJ named Dr. Death Defying who is voiced by Steve Montano. The music video of ‘”Na Na Na” shows the Killjoys’ daily lives until Korse (the evil corporation) defeats them and captures The Girl, in which a later song they have to go rescue her back.
Now the lyrics and video are just AMAZING! The music just gets you pumped!
I think it is one of their best works yet.
The future is bulletproof
The aftermath is secondary
It’s time to do it now and do it loud
Killjoys, make some noise
Drugs, gimme drugs, gimme drugs
I don’t need it but I’ll sell what you got
Take the cash and I’ll keep it
Eight legs to the wall, hit the gas, kill ’em all
And we crawl, and we crawl, and we crawl
You be my detonator
Love, gimme love, gimme love
I don’t need it but I’ll take what I want from your heart
And I’ll keep it in a bag, in a box
Put an X on the floor
Gimme more, gimme more, gimme more
Shut up and sing it with me
From mall security
To every enemy
We’re on your property
Standing in V-formation
Let’s blow an artery
Eat plastic surgery
Keep your apology
Give us more detonation
(More, gimme more, gimme more)
Oh, let me tell you ’bout the sad man
Shut up and let me see your jazz hands
Remember when you were a madman
Thought you was Batman
And hit the party with a gas can
Kiss me you animal
You run the company
F*** like a Kennedy
I think we’d rather be
Burning your information
Let’s blow an artery
Eat plastic surgery
Keep your apology
Give us more detonation
And right here, right now
All the way in Battery City
The little children raised their open filthy palms
Like tiny daggers up to heaven
And all the juvie halls
And the Ritalin rats ask angels
Made from neon and fucking garbage
Scream out “What will save us?”
And the sky opened up
Everybody wants to change the world
Everybody wants to change the world
But no one, no one wants to die
Wanna try, wanna try, wanna try, wanna try, wanna try now
I’ll be your detonator
Make no apology
It’s death or victory
On my authority
Crash and burn
Young and loaded
Drop like a bulletshell
Dress like a sleeper cell
I’d rather go to hell
Than be in purgatory
Cut my hair
Gag and bore me
Pull this pin
Let this world explode
