I Tried Tea & Me’s Tea Hair Rinse

So a couple weeks ago Tea & Me did a post on things to do with your tea bags and loose leaf tea, after you make your cup.

Something that has always bothered me about making tea is throwing the leaves away after you use them. Even though you can’t make endless cups with them (that would be SUPER weak tea), if only there was something you can do with them.

A MYSTERY!!!

She gave out a list of things you can try to do with tea, and one was to do a hair rinse.

Hmm…

My hair and I have a “special” relationship. Basically it does whatever it wants and I hope that I can do something with it.

Even my hairdresser has said she has never seen such contradictory hair. If I want it to be dry-it stays wet. If I want it wet-it dries instantly.

When I get it a way I want it-DONT MESS WITH IT!

Lately my scalp has been driving me crazy. I have been switching from product to product-trying to find something that would help-but to no avail.

Ugh!!

So I was psyched about the tea rinse. I waited so long to do this review, because I wanted to try out at least three different teas.

  1. Make a cup of tea-as you usually do.
  2. When you finish steeping your tea, put them in another cup and steep in hot water for about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Allow the tea to cool completely before using.
  4. Detangle your hair before you step into the shower to avoid knots and breakage.
  5. Wash and clean your hair well with your usual shampoo.
  6. Proceed to condition your hair. …
  7. Rinse the conditioner out of your hair.
  8. Pour your hair rinse through your hair and squeeze out the excess liquid.
  9. Do not rinse hair any further.

So first I tried black tea, Earl Grey, my favorite!

“Black Tea [is supposed to] strengthen hair roots [and] darken hair.”

The second time I did the green tea, Kukicha Green Tea.

“Green Tea prevents early grey hairs, [along with] strengthen[ing] and shin[ing] hair.”

The last one I did was this calming Lavender tea that my friend bought me.

“Lavender Tea moisturizes and conditions hair.”

So after the black tea I didn’t feel any different. I’m sure this is something you would have to do over time to see a difference. I’m not sure I will as I do not want to darken my hair.

With the green tea-I don’t have a grey issue, I think the strengthening would take time, and my hair is always shiny looking-so I couldn’t really tell a difference.

Hmm…?

I did see an improvement with the lavender tea as I needed my hair to be moisturized and conditioned.

Above all, I really enjoyed this as I loved using the tea bags and leaves. It was great not just throwing them away-it definitely felt less wasteful and that I was recycling.

Why the Princess Leia Crown Hairdo is Awesome

So of course we all know what today is:

Yes, May the Fourth or Star Wars Day. A day to fangirl or fanboy about Star Wars as much as you want.

A day to watch the films,

And just enjoy anything Star Wars.

You know that every year I wear as much Star Wars stuff as I can and do all kinds of Star Wars stuff throughout the day. In fact today, I made up a Star Wars book display at the library for May the 4th and to honor the release of a A Star Wars Episode IV: New Hope (May 25th).

And one thing I always do is rock the Princess Leia Crown Hairdo.

I know they aren’t as iconic as the Princess Leia Hair Buns, but trust me the Princess Leia Crown Hairdo is amazing, easy, fit for any occasion, and everyone can pull them off.

So this hairdo is worn in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back.

It is really easy to do.

  1. Part hair in the middle.
  2. Braid hair into two braids on either side of your head, pigtail style.
  3. Take one braid and wound up your head, pinning it in place with bobby pins.
  4. Take the other braid and wound it up your head as well, meeting with the first braid.

For those who are visual, click here. Amazing, simple, and so easy! I don’t know about you, but this is how most of my mornings go:

But this is something that even I, the hairstyling challenged can do, is something that once you do your hair actually stays that way all day. It is fantastic if you are just hanging out, going to a fancy event, hiking, needing to stay cool in summer, going on a roller coaster, etc.

Wow!

And above all- you look and feel like a princess.

Regal, strong, confident, and powerful,

Well I hope you all enjoyed Star Wars day whatever you did or wore. And always:

30) Your Opinion About Your Body and How Comfortable You Are With It

Let me just say that I don’t love everything about me.

I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it either. So let’s go down the list.

Hair

carefulofMyHairTookHours

Upside: My hair is a pretty shade of brown, a golden brown. It also is thick and grows fast

Downside: When I want it to dry it takes FOREVER. When I want it to be wet it dries instantly. It is normally straight, but there is a section that wants to just curl the opposite way. And a pinch of moisture in the air? Instant frizz. I have bangs and there is one section that will not lie flat no matter what, it always is sticking out. And any curl or wave added? Lasts about an hour then gone. My hair pretty much does whatever it wants to.

Eyes

Pros: I have beautiful green eyes that sometimes change to blue; you know the type of eyes everyone dreams off. Plus thanks to my Mexican heritage they are slightly almond-shaped.

Cons: I have to wear glasses, all the time. My eyes are pretty weak and I have to wear a high strength. I wish I had perfect eyesight, it would be pretty amazing to wake up and be able to see everything instead of blobby shapes.

I don’t mind the glasses that much, it just makes things a little more difficult like cooking, swimming, sports, costumes, etc.

Jaw

Jaws-wrong-shark-dreyfuss-scheider

Chief Brody (Good): I have a cute little chin

Bruce the Shark (Bad): I have a small chin and small jaw. This meant I needed braces twice to fix all my teeth how they needed to be, and make sure none fell behind the others, along with making it hard to take big bites out of anything.

Skin

Pale

I’m Mexican, Danish, and Italian. Unlike my other siblings, I only inherited the Danish genes and therefore have pale skin that does not tan, but burns or remains light. Needless to say the sun and I don’t do very well together.

the sun

If it’s not making me sweat overtime, then it is knocking my out as barely anytime spent outdoors in it makes me extremely fatigued.

Height

ShortLittleLegs

I’m only 5’3. Besides from being the same height as Poison Ivy, there isn’t that many positives. People think you are younger, it is hard to find clothes that fit right, you are always being knocked into or passed over. Not to mention trying to see concerts or other things. It’s hard out there for us small ones.

Body Size

body issues

My body size has never been exactly what I want. In my ratio of boobs to butt, my boobs are much smaller, making it hard to find dresses that fit right. I have abnormally large knees, causing difficulties when buying pants. I have a large but, but little hips. My torso or legs are not as long as I would like them to be. My stomach not as flat as I would wish. And I have an ugly belly button, because it was burned close as a baby.

anthony-michael-hall-brian-insecure-quotes-the breakfast club see myself don't like what i see insecure body image

In fact this displeasure caused me to become an anorexic back when I was 17. I’m better now, but I’ve had a few resurrections of the disease. And while I’m not 100% pleased with what I have, I no longer hate my body like I did as a teenager. Instead I’m just blessed to be alive.

It’s so easy to see what we see in the mirror everyday and hate on it, but never forget that with all your flaws you are beautiful.

So be yourself.

That concludes this 30 Day Challenge. I’m actually glad to see it over, writing about myself was nowhere near as awesome as writing about Disney, or reviewing horror films. It was a nice change, but if I was to do a 30 Day Challenge next year, I’m thinking books or movies.

Pretty much

I hope you all enjoyed it. If you missed out on a day, be sure to pop over to 30 Day Challenge: All About Me for the full month’s listings. Or you can go to Musical Madness to start the 30 Day Challenge from the beginning.

Comment below if there was anything about myself that I didn’t write about that you’d love to know and I will post on it!
