The Hash-Slinging Slasher: Graveyard Shift, Spongebob Squarepants (2002)

I know this is a little odd, TV episodes on a Tuesday instead of Friday as I’ve been doing for the past few years?

Help me! I’m confused!

Well this year I decided to do something special for Friday the 13th, which means I can’t put my reviews of TV shows on Friday.

So instead we will be reviewing TV episodes on Tuesdays, TV Tuesdays.

This is episode 16 from Season 2 of Spongebob Squarepants. For those who have never seen Spongebob Squarepants the show follows the adventures of the kid Spongebob as he works at a fry cook at the Krusty Krab, does Karate with Sandy Cheeks (a squirrel doing research under water), annoying Squidward Tentacles, hanging out with Patrick Star; and going on all kinds of undersea adventures.

Squidward and Spongebob are working like normal, closing the Krusty Krab when someone comes after hours trying to buy food.

You know Mr. Krabs is always trying to make a buck. This gives Mr. Krabs the idea of making the Krusty Krab open 24/7.

Mr. Krabs leaves for the night, while Squidward and Spongebob stay for their first Graveyard Shift.

Spongebob is excited, but Squidward hates his life.

But as the night grows later, Spongebob starts to get a little spooked. He has to take the trash out in the dark.

He tries to cover it up, but Squidward knows he is terrified, giving him the idea for a great prank.

He tells him the story of the “Hash Slinging Slasher”.

Years ago the Hash Slinging Slasher used to be a fry cook, at the Krusty Krab. One night, he was cutting patties and cut off his hand which he replaced with a spatula. One Tuesday night, he was hit by a bus and at his funeral they fired him. So now every Tuesday night, he comes back to the Krusty Krab to wreaks his vengeance.

Yes, so he will be visiting tonight. You will know he is coming by three signs:

  1. The lights will flicker on and off
  2. The phone will ring and no one will answer
  3. And he will arrive on the bus that killed him and cross the street without looking both ways as he is already dead.

And then he will get you.

Squidward finds it to be hilarious, but it really freaks out Spongebob. So he has to tell him the truth. And that’s the end of it…or is it?

The night grows on and the number of customers die down,, leaving just the two boys in the store. But then the lights start to flicker and Spongebob and Squidward are not doing it.

Then the phone rings, and no one answers.

And then the bus arrives, with the Hash Slinging Slasher.

He comes in the store

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!

But it just turns out to be a kid applying for the night shift fry cook job.

But if he was on the phone and on the bus then who was flickering the lights?

It turns out just to be Nosferatu, from the original vampire horror film.

It is a fun episode, and one of my favorites. The pacing, the story, probably one of the best Spongebob episodes made.

To start Horrorfest VI, from the beginning, go to One of Our Guests is a Werewolf, I Know It.: The Beast Must Die (1974)

For the previous post, go to I Died for You! I Came Back from the Dead for You! I Love You!: My Boyfriend’s Back (1993)

Midnight Madness: Are You Afraid of the Dark (1993)

vlcsnap-366245I’m not going to Midnight Madness again

Are You Afraid of the Dark was such a big part of my childhood. It used to come on Nick and I remember watching the creepy stories with my sisters. I think its funny how my mom hated Goosebumps and wouldn’t let me watch the movies or read the books; but let me watch this.

In Are You Afraid of the Dark, there are a group of kids who form The Midnight Society and meet late at night telling scary stories. This story is told by Frank.

So there is this old Rialto theater that is doing badly. Nobody seems to care about old movies or want to see anything. If they keep doing this bad they are going to be shut down forever.

tale of midnight madness

Pete is heartbroken as he not only loves theaters but old movies. (Why are these guys always named Pete?) He tries everything he can, but no luck. Soon the doors will be shutting forever.

One day everything changes.

Dr. Vink comes on the scene (this is the first episode that introduces this character). He offers the manager a bargain. He will give them the film Nosferatu, and he assures the they will soon be rolling in dough. All he asks is for one night a week to show his other films. They agree and the film is put upstairs and forgotten.

One day the reel they were playing breaks, and they have no choice but to play Nosferatu. They do and it becomes a sucess. They start raking in the dough. Soon they are showing it all the time and even opening a special time, Midnight Madness.

Dr. Vink returns for his part of the bargain, but the manager won’t listen. He promises that they will regret making that choice.

Pete is watching the movie again, to try and figure out why it is becoming so popoular. He looks at the screen and starts to notice that Nosferatu is looking toward him.

In a style of Last Action Hero, Nosferatu comes out of the screen and starts wrecking horror on others. It’s a great episode that you must watch for yourself. I haven’t been able to find a link, besides Amazon Instant watch. Let me know if you do.

Horrorfest: 31 Tales of Terror and Woe

Well, as you all know Halloween is coming! It’s one of my favorite times of the year! Not only do you get to dress up in costumes and eat loads of candy, but you also have…………………………………………………………………………………………..

HORROR FILMS!!!!

I love Horror films and LOVE watching them. To get into the Halloween spirit, I’m going to be posting reviews of my favorite horror/suspense/halloweeny films, and ones I’ve seen that aren’t that good. My goal is to randomly select a movie and post a review every day in October. Hopefully I’ll meet my goal! (Fingers Crossed). Just so you know each post may contain spoilers! I know that this has nothing to do with Jane Austen, but I love holidays and celebrating them.

Get ready for one amazing scarefest coming your way!

Bad Penny

So I don’t understand how I always manage to run into people I don’t want to see, but never those I do. In fact it is always the people I want to leave me ALONE, that tend to come by. I’m a total Anne Elliot, avoiding people I don’t want to see, trying to get them to stay away from me. This is my total MO, more info on that later

Avoidance sounds like a GREAT plan!

So anyways today I was walking to my class completely lost in my own thoughts about all the stuff I had to do.

La-di-dah! Just minding my own business

When all of a sudden someone grabs me from behind!

I start FREAKING out only to realize………………………..

That it is Verne.

Yes the very same Verne who tried to flirt with me and was at the bowling alley!

I could just not get rid of this guy! Like no matter what I did he was like a bad penny coming back again. Or an evil teddy bear. (more on the teddy bear story later!)

All I could think in my head was this:

So he started talking to me again, asking me for the 3rd TIME what my name was. Seriously, how many times am I going to have to tell you?

He told me I had embarrassed him in front of all his friends, and how I totally rejected him. I was just like, get over it! There are plenty of girls on this campus; you can find another one! Ha, trying to make me feel guilty? He doesn’t know who he’s dealing with. I’ve been through ARGS before. (Elton series; part 1, 2, & 3)

Don’t mess with me!

So I was able to get away from him and back to my work, but unfortunately I’m still a Pinocchio. He asked me again about the “boyfriend”, and I was like

Yeah, he’s good! Everything is great with him.

Just call me Pinocchio

Guess I better start getting ready for that nest, because at this rate my nose will be becoming a tree.

The story doesn’t end here.
