Romantic Moment #10

Flintstones Viva Rock Vegas (2000)

So this is the prequel to the film The Flintstonesbut it is a much, much better film. First of all the storyline is better, much, much, much better. And even though I love John Goodman, Mark Addy is a much better Fred. Rosie O’Donnell sucked as Betty. But most all, it has Thomas Gibson in it.

So Handsome!!!

So Handsome!!!

Sorry, I’m sorry. I just had to take a moment there. Back on track now! Uh, where was I? Oh yeah, this is much better than the first film.

So Wilma Slaghoople has had enough of her rich lifestyle. She is tired of friends who don’t care about her. Tired of people who can’t think beyond what’s in vogue, etc. Tired of Chip Rockefeller who’s only interested in her wealth. She escapes from her mansion and travels down to the town below, where the “common, everyday” people live. She stops at a burger joint and meets Betty O’Shale. Betty thinks she is poor and caveless, and not only invites her to live in her home but gets her a job as well at the diner.

Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble are best friends and roommates. The two have just passed their exams and are now certified Bronto Crane Operators. They go out to think about their lives, Fred expressing how he wants someone special to spend it with, when they meet the Great Gazoo, an alien banished to Earth to observe the dating rituals of man.

One day Fred and Barney go out to a burger joint and meet Betty. Fred picks her up and procures Wilma for Barney. They go out to an amusement park, but there Barney and Betty feel an instant connection and go off together. Fred is upset at first with being placed with Wilma, but after their bowling game they connect and start falling for each other. Fred also wins Dino for being such a great bowler. Soon the four (and the two couples separately) are spending all their time together, falling in love.

Wilma’s mom has tracked her down and tries to get her back, but Wilma won’t go as her mom is cold-hearted and looks down on her friends. Her mom convinces her to come to her father’s birthday party, she agrees if she can bring her friends. The next day they are shocked by how wealthy she is, Betty hurt at how Wilma lied to her. Fred was going to ask her to marry him, but after this he feels as if he doesn’t have enough to offer her. Wilma is mad at how her mother treats her friends, and storms out. Chip tries to make it up to her and invites them all down to his casino in Rock Vegas.

There we see Chip’s evil plan. He owes money to mobsters and is trying to get Wilma to marry him so that he can pay them back. He gets Fred gambling so that he will not only miss out on dates with Wilma, making her feel like crap, but so that he can hold onto Fred’s debts as a way to get rid of him. He takes Barney out of the equation by getting his girlfriend Roxie, to take him to an All-You-Can-Eat Buffet. Betty sees them and thinks Barney is stepping out on her, taking up with Mick Jaggerd (supposed to be Mick Jagger). Wilma is pissed off with Fred for being so wrapped up in money that she breaks up with him. Fred thinks he can win her back by getting more money, but Chip makes him lose everything. Chip takes Wilma’s pearls out of the hotel safe and plants them on Fred, imprisoning him and Barney. There the two meet up with Gazoo and escape. To avoid detection they dress up as girls, sneaking into Jaggered’s room. Jaggered and Barney get in a fight over Betty, with Barney knocking him out. Fred gets out and tells Wilma that he loves her. The two get married and as you know  have a yabba dabba doo time, a dabba doo time, they have a gay old time.

Most Romantic Moment:

So after Fred’s been imprisoned and escaped, his options are limited as to what he can do. After all, the hotel security is looking for him and will jump at the chance to take him down. But Fred really wants to get out there and tell Wilma how he feels, he can’t lose her. So when Barney knocks out Mick Jaggered, Fred does the only thing that comes to mind. He gets out on that stage and sings to her.

So romantic!

So romantic!

I know! So romantic!! A girl loves being serenaded to! And it’s not just the singing its the song itself! He picks Wilma’s favorite song, he sings their song! I absolutely LOVE this song, I think it is one of the most romantic ones out there. I mean just read it.

This isn’t love, this is ecstasy
Somehow I knew you would come to me
I’ve just been waiting for you to come
Into my life this way
Now here you’ll stay

This isn’t love, this is destiny
Somewhere above this was planned for me
Life had no meaning, I never knew what
Til the dream came true
The dream is you

I never say never
But this love won’t ever be over
Together we’ll share love wherever we go

This isn’t chance, this was meant to be
I knew I’d find you eventually
Nothing else matters, As long as I know
You will always be so close to me

I never say never
But this love won’t ever be over
Together we’ll share love wherever we go

This isn’t chance
This was meant to be
I knew I’d find you eventually

Nothing else matters
As long as I know
You will always be so close to me

I never say never
I never say never
I never say never
I never say never
I never say never

Isn’t just dreamy and perfect!! Serenading, their song, it is just dripping in romance. Sorry about the low quality, it is the only one I could find.

You’re Just Too Good Too Be True: 10 Things I Hate About You (1999)

Romantic Moment #9

10 Things I Hate About You (1999)

So I love this film and I know that everyone is expecting the most romantic moment to be the end when Kat says the poem to Patrick. But as much as I love that moment it’s not my favorite.

So 10 Things I Hate About You is a modern day telling of the Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare. It is such a great movie starring the gorgeously adorable Heath Ledger, intense Julia Stiles, sweet lil’ Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and a young Gabrielle Union.

So Cameron, (Joseph Gordon Levitt), is new in town and crazy for Bianca Stratford. The only problem is that Bianca can’t date, at least not until her older sister Kat does. Bianca wants to date stupid, jerky, cad Joey. (Joey just wants to sleep with her and dump her), but once again the problem is that Bianca can’t date until Kat does. NO ONE wants to date Kat, she’s CRAZY.

She is crazy!

She is crazy!

So Cameron decides that the only way he can get Bianca is if he can pay someone to date Kat. He has no money so he and his friend end up tricking Joey into paying someone to take her out. They choose Patrick Verona (Heath Ledger), as there are so many stories circulating about the crazy stuff he has done; they conclude he’s the only one tough enough to handle Kat.

Patrick tries, but even with Cameron’s help, he’s not getting very far. He goes to different places and does different things to try to win her over, but she is just not having it.

So Kat ends up going to this party and gets completely drunk after her and Bianca have a fight. Patrick takes care of her, and the two have some real tender moments, being vulnerable and sharing confidences. She comes onto Patrick, but Patrick doesn’t want to take advantage of her. He knows that she’s upset and drunk, and would regret everything the next day. That’s right guys, Patrick is a decent guy! Aw!!

Aw!

Aw!

Well the next day Kat is mad at him. She continues to be furious with him, hurt and embarrassed over her being rejected. Finally Patrick realizes that he has to do something silly and romantic to win her back.

Hmmm...

Hmmm…

Will the plans work to date the girls? Or will it blow up in all the boys’ faces?

Most Romantic Moment: I Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You

So what Patrick decides to serenade Kat. Paying the A.V. team and the band to play Frankie Valli’s “Can’t Take My Eyes off of You“! 😀

So romantic

So romantic

And he doesn’t just sing to her, he sings to her in front of the whole school and pays the marching band to accompany him. This is SO ROMANTIC! I aboslutely LOVE this part.

He has such a great voice, and that smile is to die for. Not only does he sing and dance, but fights off the security guards so he can continue. He’s so sweet and romantic. 😀

Aw!

Aw!

The Wedding Singer (1998)

The Wedding Singer  is my favorite Adam Sandler movie. I also love this movie because of how jam packed it is with ’80s music, moments, and outfits.

I LOVE the '80s

I LOVE the ’80s

Almost every line in this film is amazing! I can’t describe how much I enjoy this film; I pretty much have the whole thing memorized.

MovieQuotes

The film is about wedding singer Robbie Hart (Adam Sandler) being jilted at the altar by his long time girlfriend Linda.

Wedding Singer Love False Stinks

Julia (Drew Barrymore) a fellow co-worker and friend; tries to get him out of his depression by having him help her plan her wedding. Soon Julia and Robby start developing feelings for each other.

I think we love her.

Julia’s fiancé is a self-centered jerk that is cheating on her, so Robby tries to tell her how he feels. But through a series of misunderstandings, each thinks the other doesn’t care for them.

It all comes to  head when Julia decides to fly off to Vegas to be married and Robby chases after her.

Most Romantic Moment: Oh It Could Be So Nice, Growing Old With You

Robby jumps on the last flight, scoring the only available seat in first class. There he befriends everyone by telling them the story of him and Julia. Billy Idol has a priceless part in this. Love him!

After Robbie finishes, they discover that Julia is on the same flight with the jerk fiancé, Glen. Robbie, Billy, and the rest of the first class passengers take over the intercom system and Robbie sings a romantic song he wrote for her.

Now this song and moment is really romantic for three reasons:

First: He WROTE HER A SONG! AND IS SERENADING HER! Now what can be more romantic than that? This is on boom box level. Every girl dreams of having a song written, dedicated, and serenaded to her. It’s one of those romantic clichés we all dream about.

So romantic

So romantic

Second: He wrote this song because of what Julia told him about her views on love and finding “the one” were.

Robbie: How did you know that Glenn was the right one?
Julia: The right one, ah… I always just envisioned the right one being someone I could see myself growing old with.
Robbie: Yeah.
Julia: And… Glenn would be a really good-looking older man. Like Blake Carrington.
Robbie: I’m gonna probably look like Buddy Hackett.

He knew that finding someone to grow old with was most important thing to her; so not only did he choose to write a song for her about her ideals, but she also has the knowledge that she inspired him, she’s his muse.

So romantic

So romantic

Third: If you actually review the lyrics of the song they are really meaningful. I had to do a write up for one of my classes on what song I thought was most romantic; and I chose this one. I love this song because it shows the commitment and value that he is placing on their relationship and marriage. A friend of mine once said that, “Love is knowing someone is always there for you, for better or for worst, sickness or in health. No matter what happens or what hardships you face, you face them together, and always knowing that you are not alone.”; and I feel this song really captures that sentiment.

[Billy Idol (Speaking):] Good afternoon everyone.
We’re flying at 26, 000 feet, moving
Up to thirty thousand feet, and then we’ve got clear skies
All the way to Las Vegas, and right now we’re bringing you some in-flight
Entertainment. One of our first-class passengers would like to sing you a song
Inspired by one of our coach passengers, and since we let our first-class
Passengers do pretty much whatever they want, here he is.

[Robbie Hart (Singing):]
I wanna make you smile whenever you’re sad
Carry you around when your arthritis is bad
Oh all I wanna do is grow old with you

I’ll get your medicine when your tummy aches
Build you a fire if the furnace breaks
Oh it could be so nice, growing old with you

I’ll miss you
Kiss you
Give you my coat when you are cold

Need you
Feed you
Even let ya hold the remote control

So let me do the dishes in our kitchen sink
Put you to bed when you’ve had too much to drink
I could be the man who grows old with you
I wanna grow old with you

So romantic
