I just found this book the other day in the library that is a reprint of the original Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer story published in 1939. The story was cute and more fleshed out than the song, but not exactly like the movie (featured above). Whatever the differences, it reminded me of how much I used to love the Christmas Carol and film as a child.
It started as a simple marketing scheme, but quickly became a sensation. First the booklet in 1939, a song in 1949, and then a stop-motion Christmas Special in 1964. I just love it. Rudolph is a character we all can connect to as at one point in everyone’s life they have been picked on or bullied, and like Rudolph, we need to realize that we too contain special and useful traits.
So let’s hear it for Santa’s best reindeer, Rudolph.
