Put Me Out

 

So here we are in another post on the series of “Songs to Help You Get Over a Heartbreak” or the Heartbreak series. At this point we have gone past sadness, regret, love stinks, to being furious at the person who dumped you. This brings us to:

14) Put Me Out by The Used

Now I’ve always been a fan of The Used, but I got this song off the Vans Warped Tour 2013 Compilation album as well. If I haven’t convinced you already, you really need to check this CD out. It’s fantastic.

So the album that it is originally from  is about vulnerability and renewal. Lead singer, Bert McCracken, said:

“This record’s really about becoming more than just who you are, and allowing yourself that vulnerability to be a more powerful person. It’s a lot more positive than a lot of records we’ve written in the past. I think everyone could use some positivity nowadays.”

I like how the expression in the song is anger on how the person just threw them away after everything they did, like Paramore’s For a Pessimist, I’m Pretty Optimistic; but at the same time it is about moving on and being okay. Plus my ex was a smoker so that made an even stronger connection to the song.

Chin Up Kid

So here is another installment in the series of “Songs to Help You Get Over Heartbreak”. So we have moved past the crying and weeping, past regretfulness and love stinks, and now are at realization that it is a part of life. It happened once, and will again.

With this realization, it doesn’t always mean that you are over it (everyone moves on at their own speed) but that you are closer to being completely over it. This next song is:

9) Chin Up Kid by Forever the Sickest Kids

So this is another band I got into after listening to the Vans Warped Tour 2013 CD. Now I listened to this song over and over and over and over and over again, when I was dealing with my breakup. I really like it because of the lyrics, how true they are; along with having being a really upbeat song that makes you feel good. Plus their music video is amazing!!! You are going to love it!!!

The band wrote the song for those specific reasons.

“It’s a feeling that anyone who’s been through heartbreak will recognize. ‘Chin Up Kid’ can be a very relatable song to most. We wrote this song about keeping your head up through heartbreak and trying times. Young love can come and go before you realize you even had it. We hope this song motivates the listener to find inner strength to keep moving on and pressing forward.”

No matter how painful something is you will survive and get over it. It just takes time.

Here we are again, another song in the heartbreak series.

6) Good or Bad by Action Item

So I got into Action Item, after I heard the Vans Warped Tour 2013 Compilation album, and loved them!! (This song is actually off that album.) I couldn’t find too much background on the song, so I’m heading right to the lyrics!

I really like this song because it expresses that questioning you had about ever starting the relationship that broke your heart. Was it good or bad? Should you have ever even dated that person and missed out on all the fun times? Are the good memories worth the pain of breakup? In the end, is there really any answer? Is it good or bad; or is it something in between?
