Love Will Find a Way

So here we are, another step on the “Getting Over a Heartbreak” series. Next song:

So this song was one I grew up listening to. And no I was not born in the ’60s or ’70s. My parents grew up in the ’60s and ’70s and were really into the music (of course). They had a bunch of records and my dad continuously bought CDs with all the ’70s hits that he grew up with. My love for music started with ’70s music and quickly grew foward to the ’80s and back to the ’50s. For me ’70s music will always hold a special place in my heart. In fact it makes complete sense to me that I scored that decade:

Anyways, back to the song. So this was written in the 1970s, as I’m sure you guessed from the beginning of the post. It was a great pop/rock song that is really upbeat and catchy. It’s about how at first you might feel like:

And that you will never find anyone again who you will care about and will care for you. But, you do not need to give up. Love will find a way. Just keep your heart open.

Over You

 

So here we are, another step on the “Getting Over a Heartbreak Series”. With:

20) Over You by Daughtry

Daughtry is named after the lead singer, Chris Daughtry, one of the winners of American Idol (one of the few people who have gone on to do something.) In 2006, he and Brian Howe, music producer, wrote this song Over You. The whole concept of the song is that someone has been dumped and they are broken and feel that they will never love again.

But then, after you spend some time grieving that relationship you get over the person and move on.

“You’re with somebody for a really long time, and you pretty much think that this is the person you’re gonna spend the rest of your life with, and then they drop the ball on you. Then you think it’s over, your life is done, and then somebody better walks in.” -Chris Daughtry

 

So the music video is about a girl who struggles with alcoholism and ends up causing the death of her boyfriend. Afterwards, she goes to Alcohol Anonymous and gets over her addiction. I actually didn’t really like the music video, I thought it didn’t really evoke the song. But that’s just my personal opinion of course.

I really like this song after Move Along as it states how hard it is to move on. Up and Up and Red Rubber Ball are still moving on completely being 100% over that person, but aren’t quite there yet. Over You, however, is. It’s done and the person is over you.

Up and Up

Yep, you probably recognize this and know that we are on the next step in our “Getting Over Heartbreak Series”. So here we go with:

So I love this song coming next as I feel it really expresses the transition from deciding to move on and ignore the past to completely moving forward.

After all realizing the past is in the past and that you have to leave it their instead of having it control your future is one of the most difficult things to do.

Move Along

Here we are, another post in the getting over a Heartache series.

17) Move Along by All-American Rejects

Do you remember back in the day when they used to play AAR ALL the time. It was this song and Dirty Little Secret that seemed to be in every film, TV show, radio station, and grocery store. Some of the things it was placed in was  She’s the Man, The Hitcher, Firehouse Dog, Over Her Dead Body, Rock Band, and One Tree Hill. Whenever I hear a song from this album, it takes me back to age 14.

So the song was written by Tyson Ritter the lead vocals and bass guitarist, along with Nick Wheeler, the lead guiatarist and drummer. The song was actually written to be an anti-suicide message. Wheeler said the:

“song [was] about believing in oneself and persevering in the face of problems…”

So I think that this song really applies to the Heartbreak series, as not everyone will consider a suicide after they encounter a breakup, but most will have trouble trying to believe in themselves and others, and face their problems. Not to mention moving along.

I also love the music video as it shows Ritter in a lot of different outfits with all kinds of backgrounds. It helps make the music universal and relate to everyone.
