Horrorfest IV: The Curse

Sorry, sorry, for the messy posting and the lack of posting. I have just been so excited for Horrorfest and trying to get everything ready in between work and all my other commitments.

So October is upon us, and while:

 

October is the penultimate.

So what do I have planned for you this year? Every year has had something extra planned, beyond just reviewing horror film. In Horrorfest (2012), I reviewed what I call the Big Three in remakes & sequels, Friday the 13th (1980), Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), and Halloween (1978). 

I see more sequels and remakes coming in the future.

The year after that, Horrorfest II: Return of the Terror and Woe, I posted on the odd days of October. I also reviewed all three Jurassic Park films: Jurassic Park, The Lost World, and Jurassic Park III. 

It was great

Then last year, Horrorfest III: The Revenge was the best Horrorfest I have ever done. I was able to get it halfway completed, before October 1st even came around. Last year I did a Werewolf theme: I started with The Wolf Man (1941) and ended with The Wolfman (2010), and making nine out of the thirty-one reviews Werewolf related.

And I also reviewed all four films in the Scream series: Scream, Scream 2, Scream 3, and Scre4m.

And I reviewed three Alfred Hitchcock films: Shadow of a Doubt (1943), Under Capricorn (1949), and Dial “M” for Murder (1954). Yes, I had to make up for lost time.

I even finally got around to reviewing a Vincent Price film, Laura (1944)

So what do I have planned for this year? Well you’ll just have to wait to find out.

Na Na Na Na Batman!

For those of you who don’t know, today is Batman Day!

So as one who loves to celebrate holidays (real and made up) and one who loves Batman:

I am all for it!!! I don’t know about you but I’m about to geek out in my Batman gear, read Batman comics, watch Batman movies, and the  ’90s Batman show (the best in my opinion).

I Do What I Want

I hate when people tell me that I should be doing such and such because I’m young. I want to do what I want to do, not what people think someone may age should be doing. If I want to stay home on a Friday night with my cats reading, then I will.

Hey, after all:

But seriously, why should I do something because it is expected solely on my age? Well I’m not.

It’s my life. I’m going to live it the way I want to. The rest of the world can just deal with it.

What is in a Name?

Have you ever bought a sweater or jacket, and thought this is just so me. It looks perfect.

And then you see someone wearing the same thing and am like:

Eve though we know these are mass produced and sold, everywhere: we still expect it to be something that just represents us and shows our uniqueness.

(This is one of the reasons why I only do thrift store shopping. Except pants, the right ones are just so hard to find.)

Well, I feel the same way about my name.

It’s true. We delve so much from our name. It’s one of the first things people ask, and something that becomes such a big part of our personality, whether we hate or love it.

I’ve personally have a love/hate relationship with my name. There are things I like about it, but also things I hate. Do you remember that time when everyone was looking up their names and finding out it meant “warrior” or “steady” or “brave”? Well my meaning was dumb and everyone teased me for weeks.

Now I don’t know about you all, but even though it’s not perfect, I HATE it when others share my name.

My name is an extremely popular one, I was always in a class with at least three others that shared my name (or a variation). And nothing sucks more than when someone says your name, you come over, and it’s all “no, not you. The other one.”

You made me walk all the way over here for nothing?!

And even though through my life I have probably encountered at least 40 people (from 1st to 12th grade) who shared the same name as me, I have never, ever, once been able to find any souvenir or  keychain or bumper sticker, ever.

And my name is pretty popular in TV, books, and films. I just don’t get it. It’s so frustrating!

Now why I don’t like sharing my name with others, I don’t mind fictional characters. I don’t know about you, but it seems like you search for these, hoping to find someone really cool who shares the name, with traits you can emulate.

I’d tell you mine, but I don’t want to reveal my name. I like keeping the few shreds of anonymity I have. After all if someone I know reads this and tries to connect it with me, I’ll be like:
